# Privacy policy Last updated 12 August 2026. *Source: https://phonestop.app/privacy · Last checked August 2026 · PhoneStop — A daily screen time budget that stops you. A free Android app.* **PhoneStop does not collect, transmit, or share any of your data.** Everything the app records stays on your device. There is no account, no server, no cloud sync, no analytics, and no advertising. The Android app does not even hold the `INTERNET` permission, so it is technically incapable of sending your information anywhere. ## What PhoneStop stores on your device To do its job, PhoneStop records the following **locally, on your phone only**: - When your screen turns on and off, and how long each session lasted - How many times you unlocked your phone each day - Your daily screen-time budget, and any time you earned back or extended - Your settings: notification tone, day-start hour, theme This data is written to your device's private app storage, which other apps cannot read. It never leaves your phone. We never see it, and we could not retrieve it if we wanted to. ## What PhoneStop does not do - No user accounts, sign-up, email collection, or login - No analytics, telemetry, crash reporting, or usage statistics sent anywhere - No advertising, ad networks, or advertising identifiers - No third-party SDKs that collect data - No selling or sharing of data with anyone, because none is collected - No tracking of *which* apps you use — PhoneStop measures total screen time only, not app-by-app activity ## Permissions, and why each is requested | Permission | Why | | --- | --- | | Notifications | To deliver low-budget warnings and the time's-up reminder. | | Display over other apps | So the full-screen stop can appear over whatever app you are using. Without it you get a notification instead. | | Usage access | To restore your own screen-time statistics if Android stops PhoneStop in the background. This reads Android's built-in usage log, processes it on your device, and stores nothing elsewhere. | | Device administrator *(optional)* | Powers the "Lock my phone" button, and only that. PhoneStop requests lock-screen permission alone — it cannot wipe your device, change your password, read your data, or prevent uninstallation. You can decline it and the rest of the app works normally. | | Run at startup, battery optimisation exemption | So screen-time tracking resumes after a reboot and is not silently killed mid-day. | | Full-screen intent | So the time's-up reminder can appear when your screen is locked. | Every permission serves the app's single purpose: measuring your screen time and stopping you when your budget runs out. ## Children PhoneStop is intended for users aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect data from anyone, of any age, because we do not collect data at all. ## Deleting your data Uninstalling PhoneStop permanently deletes everything it stored. There is nothing held anywhere else, so there is no deletion request to make and no account to close. ## Changes to this policy If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new "last updated" date. If PhoneStop ever begins collecting data, this policy will be updated and in-app consent requested before any collection begins. ## Contact Questions about privacy: [ruslan@shch-builds.com](mailto:ruslan@shch-builds.com?subject=PhoneStop%20%E2%80%94%20privacy%20question)
